Players on the West Coast are celebrating the opening in Mountain View of California Billiards. This room is the culmination of Chet Itow’s five-year-long odyssey to build the perfect room. The equipment list is impressive: Thirty 9-foot Gold Crowns, 2 Veerhoeven heated slate 3-cushion tables, 2 Riley English Snooker tables, with foosball and arcade games thrown in on the side. But it is the layout of the room that shows the amount of care given to the comfort of the patrons here. Itow reserved 3,500 square feet and eight tables for the serious player area of the room. Here professionals find at least seven feet of arm room on each side of the table, assuring them of enough personal space to be able to work their games without interruption from surrounding players. The many corporate clients that host parties here for clients and employees appreciate the fast-moving kitchen and the artwork that gives California Billiards its unique look. The entryway carpet is inlaid with a 14-foot wide eight ball woven into the center of the carpet. Wall art includes a 30 foot-long mural consisting of object balls floating in deep space. The tournament players area is surrounded by raised seating for comfortable viewing of tournaments, and there is a large enclosed front patio with tables, chairs and umbrellas where patrons can relax with their favorite foods and beverages while enjoying the perfect California weather.
